Pre-School | Elementary | Junior High | Senior High | Drama | Physical Education Learning at DWAJunior Kindergarten & KindergartenGuided by the Kindergarten Program Statement published by Alberta Education, DWA's program focuses on learning through exploration and structured activities emphasizing reading, writing, science, mathematics and social skills. Four year-old and five year-old children are in a mixed kindergarten program where each child can grow and develop through guided and challenging activities. A brightly decorated, well-stocked and very spacious room provides ample opportunity for these young learners to investigate the many exciting aspects of their world including the languages of French and Spanish. Every theme, project and play activity, whether it involves computer time, station exploration, journals, field trips or cooking, rounds out an excellent pre-school experience. Most importantly, these young learners graduate to Grade 1 with a strong foundation in the essential academic skills of reading, spelling, writing and math. The Kindergarten children are also considered an equal part of the student body and as such are fully integrated into school activities. These range from the regular Monday Morning Meetings, to recess play and celebrations like birthdays, the Christmas Concert and the Commencement and Awards Ceremonies in June. At DWA, they are just the youngest members of the educational continuum!
